Smells. Shiny things on the floor, many sharp shinies. Came from window when I broke it in. Chasing—
Hm! smells…drifting away. Prey is running, but prey cannot run. Prey cannot hide. I will find it, or hear it when it screams. I hope it screams I hope it screams.
Thudthudthudthudthudthud.
Human man! coming down the stairs with a piece of wood. He yells, I knock him away easily, ignoring him. He must be protecting the other prey…the tastier, weaker prey. Up the stairs. I can smell it…so good. So good.
Thunk!
The human man! up, but not strong enough, not enough to ever hurt me. I tear his weapon away and his arm away with it. He falls, screaming, screaming not in the good way but not in a bad way.
Stairs, five at a time. Turn right. Doors upon doors. I destroy two and smell nothing. I tear a third to the floor and I smell fear and sweat and ohsogoodprey.
There is a bed against the right wall, and a dresser in front of me, sideways, on the other. I walk slow. Thud…thud….thud. My steps, draw out, draw out the fear, the smell grows stronger.
I see her. The woman, crouched next to the dresser and pressed against the wall. Her arms are wrapped around her knees, her face is hidden within them. She rocks. Back and forth, back and forth. She makes sounds
“No, no, no, no, no, no—”
I step toward her once.
“Nonononononono—”
Smells so good...
“Nononononono—!”
Tasty.
