I was required to come up with a piece of 200 words or less for my school newspaper a few years ago. This is what I came up with, I hope you enjoy it. Reviews appreciated.

Doomed

The girl moaned. No….not again…it couldn’t be happening again! The horrible ringing filled her ears. A blinding light filled her senses and for a few moments, she couldn’t move. How could she avoid this terrible torture? Perhaps…yes, perhaps she could pretend to be extremely ill! They couldn’t make her do it then. Or maybe she could talk of seeing strange figures around her and be spared on a plea of insanity.

She heard the pounding footsteps as the ringing continued…they were coming. She had to act fast. She could hide, or pretend to be asleep, or…or…oh, there was no way! It was useless. She was doomed. The footsteps came nearer and nearer…the ringing got louder and louder…and then-

“Maisy! Get up!”

Don’t you hate getting out of bed in the morning?
