So... Here it is. This was my first poem after a long break. I write about my experience a lot, so expect to see more poems on this subject from me.
Do you think I can’t tell
Where they are?
What you’re thinking?
What you see me as?
I am merely transportation
With four passengers.
-
Shut your mouth
Do you think it’s funny?
Sticks and Stones won’t bring me down,
But words may forever haunt.
-
Don’t you
Touch me there
I did not consent
I never said you could.
-
I know self-defense
But fear prevents action
Fear stops the screams
Struggle is all I can do.
-
You let go, walk away, laugh
Hours were only seconds
Mommy shares her scars
Daddy says, “I’d have hunted him down and killed him.”
-
I blame you, not me
But friends beg to differ
Did you do this? they ask
I try to explain it all:
The fear, the shock,
So vulnerable
Helpless
They won’t hear it.
-
“Boys will be boys”
This ‘proverb’ prevents justice
My cryptic nightmares
Retell this subtle assault
Relive it night and day
Still I feel your claws
Yet your face is blank.
-
“It’s humor,” says Mr. Media
“A small joke, what happened to you,”
You learn young that I’m an object
Here to serve and satisfy
Jokes shouldn’t hurt.
-
Do you truly believe,
I am a stuffed toy?
I breathe, I eat, I walk, I sleep
I am not your rib
Not your property at all.
-
This rage is for you
For all who taught you:
Your father, mother, and heroes
For your friends and their laughter
For the melody you blast
For the law which stands idle
For the world in which you were raised.
-
Take advantage of the naïve
It makes you strong
Wake up! and see
The damage is your responsibility.
There you go... Reviews are made of win, so let me know what you thought of this.
