It is a Friday, and all the kids are eager to get home and relax. However, there is one girl, Elli, who isn't looking forward to going home at all. But, with no other choice, she begins her way home.
On the way, she sees many of her classmates laughing together and planning what to do during the weekend. She works up the courage to go up to one of these groups and says hi.
One of the girls who seems to be the 'leader' of the rest gives Elli a once over before smiling at her, rather forcefully. “Hi, my friend! I don't think I've seen you around here before. Are you new?”
“I've been here since I was born fourteen years ago,” Elli says plainly, though smiling at the use of the word 'friend'.
The group looks surprised, but Elli ignores this. The 'leader' says, “Ha-ha, I was just kidding. Of course we know you. After all, you are our friend!”
Elli's smile turns into a huge grin. “Well then friends, I must be on my way.” She waves to them before continuing down the route.
This time, she sees a boy who is in her class. He is probably her best friend, she thinks, because he talks to her often. And sure enough, when he spots her, he beckons her to him.
“Hey Elli Tse! Did you finish the history sheet? I didn't understand it at all! Could I copy your answers, pretty please?”
Elli grins. “Yes, I've finished it. I'll lend it to you right now.” She takes out her history sheet and hands it over to him.
“Thank you so much! You're a great friend. I'll see you later.”
Elli waves at his back as he leaves. “He must like me a lot,” she says to herself. Now, without anybody else there, she walks straight home.
When she arrives, neither her mother nor father is home, which isn't very unusual. They often go off doing their own thing without anybody else knowing. And since she is an only child, she is all alone in the house.
She turns on her computer, signing onto her instant messenger. Strangely enough, nobody was online... Nobody except one boy.
Elli does not remember who this boy is, as she hasn't ever seen him on her contact list before. She decides to ask him who he is, but he talks to her first.
"Hello Elli," he says. Obviously, he knows who she is. "Do you know who I am?"
"No, I was just about to ask." she replies.
The boy, in return, says, "I am your friend."
Confused, she echoes, "Friend?"
"Yes, your friend. Your only friend."
At this, Elli becomes a little scared. "I have many friends at school, and I don't even know you, so how could you be my friend?"
The boy only says, "I am your only friend."
Elli, even more disturbed, asks again, "Just who are you?"
"My name is Devon, but that is not important. What's important is that I am your only friend." Elli has enough of this, and blocks Devon from her contact list. She feels shaky and hot.
After eating dinner and taking a shower, she falls onto her bed. Her mother and father do not come back home that night. She does not care.
The next day, there is no school. Elli decides to take a walk outside around her block. She passes by many people without a second glance at them. But then, there is one boy about her age who she is drawn to. This boy is a little taller than her and is wearing a shirt that has the initials E.T.
At first, she thinks about E.T., the alien, but then when she catches him staring straight into her, she notices something very weird. E.T...Elli Tse. This is her initials. The boy smirks, sending shivers down Elli's back.
"Hello Elli," he says. Now Elli cannot move, frozen on the spot. "D..Devon? Are you Devon?" His eyes open up wider, and all he says is, "I am your friend."
Elli falls forward. "Stop it! Stay away from me! I have many friends!"
"I am your only friend."
"You're not! You're not! My friends are...are..."
"Nobody else cares for you."
Tears begin to fall down Elli's puffy face. "My parents love me! They do! Whose parents don't love their children?!"
"Yours, Elli. Only yours. You are alone, with only me."
She drops onto her knees, hugging herself, and rocking herself back and forth. "No...No...It can't be..."
The boy slowly approaches her, and wraps his arms around her. "You are all alone." He begins to cry. "I am your only friend."
"You are not! I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! Get AWAY from me!!"
The boy jumps back. Hurt fills his eyes, and he mockingly places his hand to his heart... And then he smiles.
"My, my. My friend is dead."
...And all goes black.

Author's Note: I know it's a bit odd and short, but I randomly wrote this and didn't bother editing it. Just another part of my less humorous side like my other story Bleeding Hearts. Please review!
