Epilogue

March 8, 2008

So I’m not going to say that we got married and lived happily ever after or any bleep like that. But Kyoko did decide to stay in Knoxville, as it appears to have become a hotspot for paranormal activity.

Ashe and Julie are ecstatic that I have finally found a worthy mate, although I have noticed that Julie appears to be growing more and more distant of late, having become the only one of our little group to be without a significant other. There is Alyssa now, of course. She does spend a lot of time with her old friend, even if she is the only one. Alyssa has had a lot of sessions with both of my parents, but I get the idea that she isn’t the same person at all that she was two years ago, except not from some strange anomaly—such as growing breasts—as my friends originally thought. Being taken over by another person’s mind and being forced to do things she might never have done on her own had to be traumatizing.

I still struggle with the concept of sin and forgiveness, but Kyoko has been helping me to come to terms with what I helped Gav do to Christopher Tasaki. Soon, I think I will be able move on.

What matters the most to me, however, is the fact that Kyoko stayed. Church on Sundays is not awkward—as I thought it might be, considering Kyle and all—because apparently Kyoko had already made Kyle aware ahead of time that she had feelings for me, and he had only been pretending to date her—as a friend—in order to make me jealous. So I no longer hate him. Although I did give him a piece of my mind for putting me through such agony.

Prom is not an option, as Kyoko has been asked to never return to the grounds of Hardin Valley High School. But who needs prom, anyway?

I can only wait to see what my final year of high school will have in store for us, considering all that transpired my junior year. Whatever happens, it won’t matter. Because through it all, I will have the one person who matters.

My ninja.

Author's Note: Whew! This one was rough. Hard enough trying to get into the head of a sixteen-year-old guy--and feel free to offer me suggestions if you happen to be a guy and think I was way off--without having to do so around the holidays when I have so little time. Sorry my postings were so sporadic. Hopefully, the book turned out all right. Thanks for reading!
