Love Won Through Loss (Echoes…)

The simplest and most inevitable fact of life is death…

Echoes…

Your smile lifted me up one day
A simple question, “Are you okay?”
Yet hardly did I fall in love
With the beauty of but a smile

Such a tender smile…

Your eyes caught me once
As I drifted through ambivalence
And brought me back to truth
Yet hardly did I fall in love

Such ensnaring eyes…

You voice too found its way
Into my mind it did stray
With soothing and soft
Yet hardly did I fall in love

Such a peaceful voice…

I remember the moment
When without intent
Your lips caught my breath
Yet hardly did I fall in love

Such full lips…

When our hands met in joking
And I felt your fingers tender stroking
Caressing my palms
Yet hardly did I fall in love

Such graceful fingertips…

Echoes of…
Your smile
Your eyes
Your voice
Your lips
Your fingertips
Your death

When you left me for the last time
Near the final midnight chime
I had yet to fall in love
But your sudden demise
Provoked my new ties
To you.
I fell in love then.

Loss led to love.
And love perfected loss.
Echo through me now.
