The Day of My Demise

Will you miss me when I’m gone?

Will you remember my name

When I am nothing more than ash?

On the day of my death

Will you be the first to know?

Will you even care?

Will you visit my grave

And let my ghostly fingers touch your life?

Do I have a chance at immortality?

I will only truly be dead

When no one remembers my name

What I did with my life

My joys, my fears

The days of darkness, those of light

Will any of it matter in the end?

Does any of this matter?

Or is life nothing more than a dream

That only ends upon the instant of death?

When will my illusion end?

When will the sweet whisper of the dead

Murmur at my door?
