Oh, I see how you are: It’s crystal clear.
No need for excuses; no explanations.
You’re the man who loves and leaves.
Paint my heart black, why don’t you?

Please, just hand me a cigarette,
May as well stain my lungs dark.
While I’m at it, give me some charcoal;
I’ll colour my skin to match it.

When I slit my wrists, ‘cause baby, I will:
I want my blood to be gushing out black,
And when my tears fall down my cheeks,
I want the world to feel the darkness with me.

Paint my heart black, why don’t you?
You’ve taken all my happiness anyway.
Why don’t you paint the world while you’re at it?
I don’t want to be the only one feeling grim.

I don’t want colour anymore--no more light,
Want my surroundings to be dark like my soul;
Everyone should feel the pain you put me through,
I should paint the world black while I still can.

Oh, I see how you are: It’s crystal clear.
No need for excuses; no explanations.
You’re the man who loves and leaves.
Paint my heart black, why don’t you?
