an ocean between words.

nervous smile, downcast eyes.

watching you furtively

for a negative reaction.

sometimes i know exactly

what to say.

worlds in my head, but the words

and ideas refuse to slip out;

staying stubbornly inside

while i stammer and flounder.

i wish i could break down this wall,

and share these things with you.

these dim and fragile worlds within,

trapped in the darkness.
