“your lungs are hemorrhaging.”
the words are sterile and shrinkwrapped.

i cough.
blood stains my lips like red dye # 2.
it tastes like life wasted.

“we’re going to place you in a chemically induced coma.”

& all i can say:
“there is more than one good way to drown.”

author's note: This poem recounts actual events. It's also an older piece from my previous time on fictionpress, so some of you may rememeber this one. Thanks for reading.
