It Gets Much Colder

2/25/07

The grief lasts much longer

The sorrow grows much thicker

The pain cuts much deeper

It gets much colder

From here.

As the moon kidnaps the sun

The frost invades and creeps stealthily in

It encompasses all and chills the soul

Cold indifference takes the place of the warmth

Into the heart it forms a hole.

Frozen are the limbs, caught sharply between the frost's glacial fingers

Attempting to escape is useless;

The air is oppressive to the lungs,

Yet, respiration quickens as panic sets in.

It pulls you under agonizingly slow

Beneath a black, icy lake of unknown depth

You try to resurface and then you realize

You've forgotten how to swim.

Sinking below the reaches of possible rescue

Wondering why you are drowning alone

Surely someone has heard the cry for attention

You believed you had friends; I guess you were wrong.

Living under that leaden weight of the water

Difficult to live, yet unable to die

Constant torture ruling life, makes it

Difficult to breathe and you're unable to speak.

The grief lasts much longer

The sorrow grows much thicker

The pain cuts much deeper

It gets much colder

From here.

A/N: Very angsty, but I was in a most terrible mood when I wrote it. Comments welcome.
