Enjoy. Review. I beg of you. REVIEW!

A young girl treaded down the dusty path towards her "home", head hung low, tears clinging to her dense lashes. Soft, short sandy blonde hair circled her pale, sad face and her luminescent seafoam green eyes gazed down at the dirt ground as she slowly headed towards her home.

She'd lived on these streets forever it felt. Homeless, loveless and sad. Getting nothing but glares shot at her and rocks and stones tossed at her already sore body.

How tough it must be for her to continue, to remain kind and polite to the ones who scorned her. Anyone else would have snapped by now. Her will to live was actually not as strong as it appeared. It was like porcelain, ready to fall to the hard floor and break into delicate shards at any moment. She could just give up...at any time.

She slid into the slums close to the castle, stumbling over a thick brick protruding from the ground and nearly falling over, regaining balance and posture just before she fell flat on her face. A couple of rats scurried around the alley, bumping into glass bottles making them rattle and roll.

Syschia was allowed minimum time in the castle, after all, her father was the king of the kingdom. She was still...slightly cared for? But she had no more time left for today anyway. The rumors were that the king would possibly move Syschia back into the palace though.

"Syschia! Syschia!" ...Who was calling for her? She turned around, soldiers dressed in the usual light garb dashing towards her, their boots and sandals plodding against the hardened ground of the slums she inhabited.

"Come with us at once!" The little girl kept up with them easily. Soon they were at the front doors of the castle. They made entrance and led Syschia up to a plain, but royal chamber high up in the castle.

"You'll be living here...In the palace now. You'll be treated better." It seemed like they were hiding something. Hiding something big. They left her in the room on her own. She crawled up into the large, welcoming bed and rested her head on a pile of sumptious silk pillows. Syschia had never seen much of a bed before. The child pulled the sheets over her small form and began to drift off into sleep, enjoying the most comfortable rest she'd had in her life.

"Hey. Wake up," Her body was being violently shaken. Early morning sunshine seeped through the windows and past the thin, decorative curtains. Who was moving her around?

"Ikan, stop it." A young, soft feminine voice ordered. Hesmari and Ikan, Syschia's older siblings. Ikan was the eldest, the two sisters' big brother. Syschia had seen them many times, in town at market, during festivities and when she had her time in the castle. Syschia was 6 years old, Hispera 12 and Ikan age 18.

"Hn...Why has father let her live in the palace now?"

"Who knows," Hesmari strolled over to Syschia's side, took her sister's wrist and gently dragged her out of the bed. "C'mon now. Lets go to breakfast." Syschia felt like asking her if the two...were friends now, but she was just too afraid to go through with it. She followed after her siblings to the dining area, through the great halls, past the tapestries, paintings, sculptures, regal weaponry and other royal decor' lining the walls of the castle like frosting on a cake.

Syschia still felt like this sudden change in living arrangements and views was strange and suspiscious. For a 6 year old child she was very intellectual. She snapped out of thought and dashed forward to catch up with her siblings.

"Keep up, would you..." Ikan sighed impatiently. She thought about uttering a 'sorry' but again, went against moving her tongue.

They entered a dining room. A large sized, circle table stood in the center of the room. It was covered with a white linen table cloth with lacy edges, sleek silver platters of gourmet breakfast treats, bowls of buttered biscuits, porcelain plates of sausage, eggs, bacon, toasted bread, fruits and vegetables. Cups of chilled tea, icy water and smooth milk also rested on the table. Syschia couldnt believe her eyes. So many delicious things!

"Take a seat and help yourself," Hesmari said while sitting down and reaching for some silverware wrapped in a paper napkin. Ikan did the same while Syschia crept towards the table, eyes facing the floor.

"Don't be shy. Just eat." Her older sister said somewhat warmly. She quickened her pace, and pulled out a plush chair. She was clearly nervous and unsure. She slowly put out her hand and began choosing. Syschia filled up on sweet, plump fruits, tasty and tangy veggies, soft, warm breakfast rolls, muffins and cakes and juicy meats from the kingdom's finest livestock as well as pure milk from the best bred cows in the land.

"You seem to have enjoyed yourself," Hesmari commented. "Follow me."

"I'll be going now..." Ikan said and walked off without another word.

"W-where..." Syschia's voice faltered. "Where are you taking me?" She managed to not to stutter again, surprising herself.

"...To the throne room." Syschia knew she was a princess; she'd just never felt like she was, never thought about it. A meeting with her father the king perhaps?

"King Belling, the daughter...daughters have arrived." A court attendant announced to the monarch sitting upon a pale stone throne. The king had distant scorn shining in his onyx eyes. Syschia felt even more out place in the throne room and it was nowhere near the grandeur of the rest of the great palace. It was simple, dark and pale stones set into the walls and floors, plain, flat windows with wrougt iron designs. She certainly didnt look out of place. As for Belling and Hesmari, they did for they were decked out in splendid silks and casual looking armor inside of a dull, poor looking room while Syschia's garb consisted of a violet poncho, worn out flip-flops, black tabi socks, a pair of maroon pants and a baggy black shirt beneath the poncho.

"Syschia, Syschia, Princess Syschia...Its good to see you." Belling sighed and cast a glance at 12 year old Hesmari who stood by the girl he'd just finished greeting.

"U-uhm," She stammered. "Hello." She looked up at the king with big, innocent eyes of melty seablue. So much she yearned to ask about, but so much fear stood in the way. Why was she suddenly allowed residence in the castle, suddenly given royal treatment? So confused, so curious, so frightened...So pleased.

"Lady Syschia, wait a moment," Had she just been called lady? No time to float on air though, someone needed her. She turned around and faced a young man in his 20's. He was quite beautiful, the same sandy hair as Syschia and dark blue-black eyes.

"...Y-yes?"

"I've been wanting to meet you. I am your Uncle Nils and the captain of the guard," So she'd met a few people today. Hesmari, Ikan, King Belling and Uncle Nils.

"From what s-side of the family may I ask?" She inquired softly.

"Your father's."

"Oh. It is good to meet you, Captain Nils,"

"Just call me Uncle Nils or Nils, Lady Syschia." She gave him one of her sweet, innocent liquid smiles.

Someone who would be her friend?

Someone who might love her?

"I had the seamstress drop off something for you in your room,"

"You did? Thank you. How did you know about me?"

"I asked Hesmari who the child in the castle wearing rags is and asked where your room was so I could make sure you received some proper clothing befitting someone of your stature,"

"...This is all so fast." He chuckled and strolled off. She continued to her simple chambers now that the warm introduction was through.
