AN: Another piece of flash fiction. I had to write this for a writing class for tomorrow so it’d be really great if I could get some feedback on it today!

Forgotten, but not gone

Sometimes they just forget her. No eye contact is made when her small yellow bag is exchanged. They try hard not to touch each other, the feel of the other’s hand sending wrong signals to their minds and hearts. But something happens every time. One of them always snaps. That’s when they forget her. Being oblivious to their little miracle standing between them, they tear each other up. Hearts ripped out and gnawed on until there is not much left. The lullaby of desperation and frustration in her ear, the little one shuffles to the car. Lost in the open space of the big old truck, she covers her ears and hums. She has learned how to do this much too early; before she took her first steps, even before she uttered her first words. She knows she has to wait now. Until mommy and daddy come to their senses, she is forgotten.
