My Love and The Darkness

Ah

The Darkness

It surrounds me again

I lie here alone, tossing myself to and fro

I grip my chest where my heart lay beneath

The pain. This burrowing pain I can’t escape

I look where you once were

So quiet. So peaceful. So humbly you slept

-

Now.

Now I stare at the neat pillow by my head

Not wrinkled. Not messy. Just empty

The blanket lay untouched but by me. It holds not the form I once knew so well.

I close my eyes, seeing you here with me once again

What bliss!

In an instant, I reach out for you

Your dark tresses

Your beaming orbs of blue

Your sweet, petite face

I see all; my heart pounds painfully with such feeling of Love!

I reach…

…only to touch thin air

-

I stare into my reflection, staring deep into my eyes

Why? I ask. Why?

Only Silence is my answer

Why is it I must live on with this torture?!

Why is it you have left me for another?!

Why… do I still love you?

I stare into my reflection

I waited

Only Silence is my answer

Heavy with sorrow, I drop to my knees

I wept like never before

Why?!

-

What is this?

I reach out to find myself in the images of a time before now

Clutching at this soft object

I see you again

And I smile as you do the same

I feel the same burning sensation at your touch

I shiver at the sound of your tender voice

I see us together again

Embracing you into my arms, keeping you by me forever

But

What fright I feel run through my body

As I see you fade away right before me

No! Please! I beg of you!

Stay by my side!

Hopelessly, I watched as you disappeared

Smiling all the way

-

I’ve had enough!

God, free me of my mortal burdens!

Strike me where I stand before you now!

I plea with all my heart and soul!

Please, take me to your Heavenly Gates

And free me of this never-ending pain!

Pierce my heart with your gentle hand

Rob me of all that brings me such sorrow

And grant me nothing but eternal bliss

With you!

You that I know will forgive me and love me so.

My Lord, I beg of you!

Empty me of all that is not right

Save me from my own damnation!

-

An angel…

I watch as she descends from above,

Her pure white dress flowing like the waves of the ocean

The Light shows not her face

But I know I am not worthy of her great beauty

I do nothing but kneel before her, staring in awe

She held out a hand, a small and delicate hand

In a heartbeat, a sword appeared

A golden sword emanating the Light

I bowed my head

Taking her hand in mine

Together, we raised the weapon and placed it upon my bust

Above where my heart lay beneath

I looked up at her

-

And I saw

I saw the tears of an angel

Tears shed for one such as I

I raised my hand to find a handkerchief

As I wiped away such holy tears

As I felt the sword begin to impale my beating heart

It struck me

My Love!

Her lush, dark hair

Her gleaming blue eyes

Her sweet face

I pulled her close

This searing burn pulsing through my entire being

Giving me such feeling I’d never want to lose

Is it Love?

I embraced her once again

Knowing this Love would last

as long as this fire within me burned

I closed my eyes as the hilt touched my skin

My Love

The Darkness

(This looks a lot better in Word. Might change it another time) Yeah, I'm still alive, for those of you that care, and I return with a poem I wrote for this Baroque themed picnic my Humanities class is doing. It's going to be awesome! Until I have to perform that is. So, if you know anything about the Baroque time period, I hope this sounds like it and that I didn't disgust you horribly with possible inaccuracy. If not, I hope you enjoy it nonetheless :) Well, I'm off to finish my project!I hope you liked it, and review if you please. Flames will be ignored. Constructive criticism will be taken into thought. Compliments will be appreciated.
