Cure for a Broken Heart
You told me that your heart was split,
that you could take no more;
because the pieces no longer fit
and you can't find a cure.
Hearing this distressed me so;
no one should feel that way.
So to my workshop I did go
and worked all night and day.
Once my mind began to start,
a genius plan had formed.
I'd make a potion for your heart
to fix what they had torn.
So I picked a field of flowers
just for this specific cure.
I know I must have worked for hours
to find the ones most pure.
Then I caught a butterfly
from the heights above.
Only one from Heaven's sky
would be perfect for my love.
I went back to my workshop
to make the remedy.
All night long I worked non-stop
to create just what you'd need.
I added in some drops of Brandy
to make it taste just right
and then I put it chocolate candy
to take out the stinging bite.
In the morning it was done.
I'd never been so proud.
But as Apollo pulled the sun,
my mind began to cloud.
This simple tonic would never do
-And even though it hurts-
I could never give this cure to you
because it would never work.
Because flowers will always die,
though you'll shower them with care;
and the wings of butterflies
are much too delicate to share.
Chocolate bars will always melt
when the heat's too high.
And too much Brandy when it's felt,
can make you want to die.
A flower will not work for you
because true love never fades.
That's why this potion will not do,
although I worked for days.
Butterflies have beauty beyond compare,
but it's only meant for one.
Love is something you can share.
That's why this isn't done.
While chocolate melts right through you,
love will stand its ground.
And though it was hard to do
a solution I have found.
A remedy, I could not make
so I thought of this instead.
I found myself some duct tape
and a needle with some thread.
You told me your heart had a rift
that no one could ever fill.
So I fixed it for you as a gift.
I just hope it fits the bill.
I know the sewing isn't great
for a seamstress, I am not.
That's why I used the duct tape
for every empty spot.
Although there are cracks here and there
I did the best I could.
I sewed it up with love and care,
like a true love always should.
