Fly

Fly

The summer air played tricks on me

The summer breeze did lie

The summer sun has led me wrong

They made me want to fly.

My wings are trimmed, my legs tied down.

My temperament is mild.

But in my heart I know it’s wrong

My soul is truly wild.

The summer air made jokes to me

The breeze did tantalize.

The summer sun begged me to come

The sky was full of lies.

longing to join natures course

I begged to be set free

To dance upon the summer air

To surf across the breeze.

But my wings are trimmed, my legs tied down

My temperament is mild

I hide behind domestic masks

hide everything that’s wild.

my heart does ache with lies on lies

I can not sit and wait

Wait until the moments right

Till they open up the gate.

The summer air possessed me

I looked into the sky

I begged to let my heart go free

To spread my wings and fly.
