A couple of my friends recently broke up. This is basically me reacting to the news. If you want to learn about them, well, they're semi-fictionalized as characters in First Semester, 'Rebirth,' 'Ya Can't Refuse,' and 'Film of Blame.'

I Heard of Your Falling

I heard of your falling

but I never saw it

when I caught small glimpses the shadows were

invisible

harshness of the same decibels it was before

and sweetness still luminescent

I did not witness any difference…

I read the bitter words

songs I remembered from years ago

and my own crises

and you, once a hero,

I villianized

why?

I assumed those characteristics

I found questionable

had finally destroyed you…

that there were parts of you irreconcilable

with everything I am…

no.

There is a happiness

you might’ve had once

one I think you still deserve

I heard of your falling

and as I read and respond to

words sadder and sadder

I see your outcry

but I do not hear it.
