Chapter One

A gasp came out of a tall and slender woman as she took in the scene before her comrade and her.

“What on Earth happened here?” the woman asked as she looked around.

“It looks to have been a mass murder.” Her comrade, a man, said.

“What about the buildings then?” The woman asked.

“Burned?” The man replied with a shrug.

“They’re crippled though. They don’t look burnt at all.” The woman observed.

The two stood in front of a small town that wasn’t even on the map, that’s how small it was. The buildings were crippled and wrecked, like a wrecking ball had knocked into them all. The streets were lined with dead bodies, not a single soul in sight.

The death of the citizens all looked to be the same. They were all lying on the ground. The only place that blood could be found near any of them was at their mouths. Some were in different positions than others and some had their eyes open while others had theirs closed.

There were people of all different ages. It seemed that the murderer didn’t bother to spare the women or the children.

All of them, every single last one, were dead.

“Let’s split up and look for any survivors. Be careful, these deaths look fresh, the murderer could still be here.” The man suggested and they did just that. He went one way and the woman went another.

The woman came to a sudden stop about two minutes later; she had found something, or rather, someone.

“Hey, come over here.” She called to her partner; he ran to her in a hurry.

“What is it?” He asked her, his gun in his hand.

She pointed, staring at where she pointed to, and said, “Look.”

He did as she said and stared as well.

There was a small crater-like indent in the desert ground a little ways away. In the middle of it stood a five year old boy with a seven year old boy lying beside him on the ground.

The five year old looked at the two.

The woman put on a smile and put her gun away, taking a step forward. “Hey there, little guy. Don’t worry, we won’t hurt you.” She held out her hand, hoping he would run to her and take it.

The boy’s eyes widened. “You have to get out of here! Leave!” He shouted.

The woman looked at her partner and then back at the boy.

“It’s alright, we’re here now. We’re the good guys. You’re safe.” The woman said with a kind smile, her hand still outstretched.

“I’m not the one in danger.” The boy said calmly, yet gravely.

“I don’t understand. Come here so we can get you to safety.” The woman said with her voice now more demanding.

The boy shook his head and stayed rooted to the spot. “If you don’t leave before my big brother wakes up then you’ll be sorry.” He again said gravely.

“What—” The man started, taking a step forward, but was quickly cut off when the older boy, who had previously been unconscious, stood up behind his brother.

The body quickly stepped forward and pulled the younger child behind him, a hard glare set on his face.

The older boy raised his right arm; fingers spread out and palm facing forward, toward the man.

Suddenly, the man clutched his throat with both hands, like he was being strangled. He made choking and gagging noises. He was gasping hard for air but wasn’t granted with any.

Blood leaked out of his mouth and his eyes closed. He fell to the ground, motionless. His hands were still around his neck.

The woman looked between the boy and her dead comrade multiple times, finally resting on looking at the boy with her mouth agape.

The boy’s arm and hand were still in the same position as before, except now he was facing the woman.

The woman fell to her knees.

“H-How?” She asked weakly; terror, horror, and fear evident by the expression she wore on her face. She had never seen something like that.

The older boy spoke, his voice sounded cold, distant, and harder than his brother’s. “Think of it as self-defense. When the town attacked us, I protected my brother and I. In this world it is either kill or be killed. The townspeople were weak and stupid, so they were the ones that died.”

“What about the children?” The woman asked weakly. How could children kill other people, let alone other children?

“They were brainwashed by the adults. Besides, they would have had a messed up life after this traumatizing event anyway. I believe I did them all a favor.” The older boy said, his voice the same as before.

The last thing the woman saw before she met the same fate as the others was the sadness in the five year old boy’s eyes as he watched his older brother kill off the last trace of people who knew about them and their abnormal abilities.

Hope you liked it. Now, so no one gets confused, I'll explain something about the next chapter. The next chapter takes place 20 years into the future and won't be started on either of the brothers that were in this chapter. Just to let you know. Review if you liked the story. They are always welcome and appreciated. Also, yes, this will be a little like X-Men: Evolution, but not ENTIRELY like that show. By the way, I love that show!! I used to watch it when I was little and it was still on tv. I still watch it, on Youtube that is. Anyways, bye and the next chapter will be up VERY shortly. XD
