Catharsis

I have finally gotten you

out of my system.

There are no longer any lingering

memories or messages.

In case you wanted to know,

they’re sitting in the trash can,

shredded and ripped beyond recoverable.

Your flattering webs that once wove

around the recesses of my love struck mind,

have been swept away by reality.

In time, my arms have gotten used to

the sensation of holding thin air,

and I relish the cold breeze on my face,

no longer shielded by your warmth.

But, you were never there,

and

it was time I realised it.
