The Girl Who Dreamt Too Much

I dream of the glances,
the second chances and moonlit dances;
I dream of the touch of your skin,
the fire within,
burning a hole so deep.

I want the unreachable,
the impossible, the untouchable;
I want the forever more,
swept off the floor,
those earth shattering moments.

I need the passionate caresses,
the hurt and distresses;
I need to know that it’s real,
where we can peel
away to the here and now.

In your arms.

I hope for a sign,
the world of magic, fate’s design;
I hope for the picnics under the tree,
you and me,
with the snowfall under the stars.

I wish for the perfect bliss,
two hearts intertwined, a virgin kiss;
I wish for the universe to fall away,
for one day,
the northern lights to swallow us whole.

I believe in the broken hearts,
these paths lead in its fractured parts;
I believe in what I’ve seen,
where I’ve been,
and despite this, deep down, I still believe.

I know the chances of this are small,
and along Love’s walk I will be forced to crawl;
I know that once again I shall cry alone,
once again hardened to the bone,
a storm unchallenged through such rough waters.

Once upon a time,
there was a girl who dreamed, wanted, needed, hoped, wished, believed and knew of
the truest and deepest of all great loves.

She searched, forever in each day,
continually uncovering false flybys.
Towards the end of her life,
she kept the faith,
naïve though it might have been,
always believing he was never far from her,
never losing that devotion to her
unseen soul mate.
A beautiful tale,
inspirational and moving.

She woke up.

And the world spun into grey.
