10 Minutes to Salvation

Heavy with the desire to rest

10 minutes to salvation

Unknown minutes for the carriage to arrive

Probabilities and odds are meaningless to me

Rather know not ponder

A cool but stale breeze comes and goes

Fans my desire’s flame

It burns

It’s too heavy a load

Afraid I’ll crash before my time

5 minutes to salvation

Says the working clock

My desire fading as my time draws near

As I let my mind escape

To wander instead of being the white plane’s captive

Other stirring captives entice my hope and lighten the load

2 minutes to salvation

Ticks the working clock and anxious I get

Now I watch the red hand

It twitches and the bell rings

I am saved.
