Explosion
A Double Etheree
Inspired by "Holding My Breath"

Kiss

me hard

and tell me

that you love me.

I hold my breath each

time my lips touch yours – soft,

and oh, so sweet – to savor

every gentle kiss I can snatch.

I lure you under the clever guise

of the pink and white picnic blanket dress

that my ancestors conveniently sewed.

I pull you close and shut the curtain,

let the water wash all pretense

off my skin, drenching yours.

I throw back my head, sigh,

gasp, laugh. Finally,

freeing a breath,

everything

inside

bursts.
