Chap5
Emma saw guards at the border. She quietly dismounted from her horse and hid in a near by bush. She wondered why Jason would go to this place. Then she remembered, this place was known for its blind fighters.
She realized that they were binding Jason’s hands and feet. She saw them throw Jason across his horses back like he was a sack. That was when she realized that he had dismounted to talk to the guards. She wondered why he would he had put himself into that position, he knew better.
Emma jumped out and screamed “Jason no, don’t leave!” Emma was scared by the look of fire that he gave her, the way his eyes seemed to glare into her.
She screamed and screamed as border guards caught her and her horse and screamed until she couldn’t scream any longer. Her eyes were full of sadness and she barley actually fought. It was when she couldn’t scream any longer that she looked at her guards and realized that they were blind. That was when she really started freaking out.
She didn’t understand anything that was going on. She stopped fighting at all. Her strength seemed to have left her and she started to collapse. Her muscles didn’t seem to listen any more. She felt strange, light headed. She could hear but her vision seemed to blur. She felt a man grab her and hold her up, his arms were around her waist keeping her from falling and he had let her head roll against him. She heard the men talking but she couldn’t seem to understand words any more. She felt the guard lift her onto a horse and then lift himself on, still allowing her to rest against him. Then, as the horse started to move, life blanked at and she fell into the pit of unconsciousness.
The guard responded in clear and soothing whisper, “Shhh, little fighter, we will take care of you.”
Hearing this she aloud herself to lean back against the man. She felt tired and aloud herself to sleep.
She woke up enough to hold herself up and act like the confident rider she was, even though she wasn’t that confident at the moment. She noticed that there were five other guards in the group, and Jason. Jason sat in front of a guard, looking downcast and then sometimes turning to glare at her with his good eye and his damaged blind eye. Emma could tell that Jason was mad at her for following. She also knew that if she hadn’t followed she night one day have had to fight against Jason.
She started to feel tired after about an hour. She wondered what was wrong. Feeling tired enough; she allowed the gentle movement off the hose to loll her to sleep against the guard’s chest.
Seeing the food, she realized how hungry she was. She was quite happy to see the guard coming back with food that had been semi heated over the small fire. The guard gave her a little bit on a plate and she gobbled it up. She asked the guard after she finished, “Can I have more? Where are we?”
The guard responded, “I have already shared my food with you, I had to share because I was the one that begged not to kill you so don’t complain. I am not allowed to tell you where we are.”
He laughed at something though she did not know what he thought was so funny. She did guess that she should be thankful so she said, “My profound thanks.”
