Yet another poem about my experience.

I would have gone into the store,
but the Monster was in there
Waiting to grab me—
Like he did before.

I would have stayed longer
if you did not have the Monster’s eyes
Piercing, frightening eyes that paralyze
Eyes just like his.

I would have kept my seat
if the boy next to me had not been
repeating the Monster’s words
and triggered these images.

My heart would not be racing
and I would not be fighting tears
if not for the one over there
behaving like the Monster.

I must get out of here
The Monster is everywhere
In every man and boy.

If you ask me why I feel this way
or who the Monster is
I may or may not answer
Please do not be offended
I’m just not sure you would understand
But I look forward to the day
When I can walk in front of you
and not feel the Monster’s breath
on my neck.

Note: When I say "in every man and boy", I do not mean that I believe that all human males will, without a doubt, molest, rape, or hurt me in anyway. I do get very nervous around most guys I don't know very well and think they will hurt me, but I have plenty of male friends who I trust with my life.

Anyway... Reviews make kittens smile. Review this poem and TWO kittens will smile!
