1The River

The river flows, on and on.

Ever going, never changing.

I wish the world was that way.

Ever spinning, on and on.

From space it seems to never change

From where I stand, I see much more

On and on we go

Changed, forever; forever, changing

Slowly, slowly.

Us, from space, we see the river

We see it go on and on, never changing

But there's the problem- change just comes too slow.

On and on, it flows, ever changing

Slowly, slowly.

So it grows, and grows

Like the river, slowly eroding the great mountain

Our strength is destroyed

By this idea of pride, of honor

Man's essential illness

And of sin.

Why is it that evil, and their gravity, have been forgotten?

Why, if one does not lust,

If he does not smoke,

If he is righteous,

Why is he the one

Who suffers?

They say the good die young.

I think God just wants them home sooner.
