-1Lindsey Richards sat there, in the court, waiting for the decision. Everything was wrong. Everything. Her mother had died when she was young in a tragic car accident. Now her father was most likely being put away because ever since his wife’s death, he hadn’t been completely sane. And she was most likely going to live with someone she didn’t know.
The judge came back. Everyone stood and waited. “We find Mr Ethan Richards certifiably insane. He is to be taken away and his daughter is to live with her Uncle James Clair on her mother’s side. Court adjourned.” The judge left, as did everyone else, except two; Lindsey, in her purple skirt and light blue blouse, and a man in the back. He was tall, with short blond hair and blue eyes. He was from England, like his sister, this child’s mother. He stood up from his seat in the back and walked up to her.
Though they were related, he knew nothing about her. His sister had left the family when she met Ethan and he hadn’t spoken to her until the birth of Lindsey. The rest of their family wouldn’t speak to her; they didn’t approve of Ethan. Now, he decided that he take care of Lindsey no matter what, in honor of his sister.
He reached her and put his hand on her shoulder. She looked up at him with red eyes. She was crying. He couldn’t blame her. She had just lost her only parent to insanity and she was going to go live in a new town where no one knew her. She had a right to cry. “Come on,” he said. She stood and they walked out of the court to his car. “We’ll go get everything you need and then we can go to my house. Alright?”
“Sure. Whatever.” They got in his green car and drove off.
