-Chapter 2-

12, 8, 2007-

Vei stood in the back of the school, where the buses usually parked. She sighed, while leaning against the building door, she waited. Siece, Gregory, and Yoru were all still in school, doing gods knows what, but she wasn’t really surprised, seeing as they were very popular, she never really understood why they were the way they were, they could each be very popular if they chose to, only they chose to stay with her.

Vei sat in the far back of the class room, she leaned against the glass window, not really paying attention the teacher, and after all it was the first day of school. On the first day, it was guaranteed that anything the teacher would be talking about, was more or less boring, or to be more precise, not important.

Vei sighed, she knew she stood out big time, considering the amount of kids they had in her class, she was the only one with snow white hair mixed with streaks of black, it reached past her waist, but she often kept it in a thick braid, and up into a ponytail. She was also very pale, with eyes of the clearest blue.

Many people made fun of her, but she was never answered when she simply asked why. It was only the first day of school, so she assumed it natural, I mean waking up 5:30in the morning, shower, eat breakfast and get to “school”…she would be bitchy as well.

She sat by herself, all the other students, for some reason, chose to stay away from her, either she had a disease not known to her, or something was wrong with her, and yet she had no idea what.

Vei was jolted out of her thoughts when something hit her arm, she blinked to find a small square folded piece of paper lying on her desk, she picked it up, her lips pursing as her eye’s narrowed, carefully she opened it, her eye’s gliding along the words written upon the paper.

Hello little snow cat” was written neatly in script upon the paper, her eye’s narrowed when she looked up, only to find a pair of Hazel eye’s upon her. She blinked for a second, confusion apparent on her face, she sighed and turned, flicking the paper off her desk, it hit the floor; she didn’t look at the boy again for the rest of the class.

---+---

The day seemed endless, she was in 6th period; Art, the only class she actually might consider liking. Vei was somewhat of an art geek. She wrote poems and she sketched often, but for the past few weeks’ she’s been overly obsessed with one particular cat. It was not much of a surprise; she had a crazy obsession with different types of felines, they were really fascinating to her, and held some sort of mystery.

She stood in front of her teacher, her portfolio in hand, her parents weren’t home often so she was left to go out and explore the world, as well as buy what was needed for her. She didn’t depend on anyone but herself. When her parents were home, there was not much life there; she never really understood why she called it her home. Even when her parents spoke, something was always wrong, it seemed like her parents were being very distant, like they were trying to avoid her. Vei thought nothing of it, she never really considered herself apart of the family anyway, it was nothing new.

In middle school, she rarely spoke to other kids, though she did well with her grades, and rarely got any bad reports, if there was any, it was often said because the other kids chose to pick on her, and although she was quiet almost all the time, she knew how to stand up for herself, she often fought with the kids, and won, the teachers were concerned, but still got nothing out of her even after trying so hard to “help her out”.

Middle school went by slowly, it was a repeat of each day, and if anything interesting ever happened, it rarely lasted long before the day ended. She woke up, and walked to school by herself, she had class work, and chose to read, or sketch instead of staying out and going for recess with the other kids. The teachers tried to get her into it, but when she even stepped one foot out of class, almost everyone ignored her, so she chose to stay in school and do what she did best; sketch.

When class was over, she stayed a bit longer, she was in art class, and was the only student that stayed to start on new sketches, most of the times, they were animal sketches, she painted a swell as used charcoal. One time she used charcoal for one of her works, she found it torn and water all over it. For some reason, the kids only went after her other work; they left all the animal ones alone, she really had no idea why.

Vei left school around 4:30, but she didn’t go straight home, there was an area that seemed to be deserted, she stumbled upon it when she was running about, or leaving home when her parents got into some kind of argument, over drinking, smoking, okay getting straight to the point, they often whined over everything, she chose not to stay when it happened. It was an area full of trees, no one could see the entrance because of so many of them, and vines as well as bushes, when passing through, it would open up into a small path, not so many bushes and branches blocked then, small plants and flowers littered the area, and in the middle was a lake, small rocks pilling upon each other, it formed a small waterfall.

Vei turned into that area, often because it was not only peaceful, but she could also find many other interesting things there. A lot of animals gathered there, and for some strange reason, they were never afraid of her; it seemed natural to them, and they welcomed her. Some were a bit nervous, but it didn’t last long before they all surrounded her.

Vei walked towards the pond, the animals followed after, a few were foxes, and birds, some were stray cats and dogs, and others were small rabbits and even squirrels. She slid off her shoes and sat on the grass, folding her pants way up to her knee’s, when finished she slowly dipped her legs into the cool clear blue water, sighing in content, she closed her eye’s, the animals all surrounded her, a blue and white bird landed on her shoulder, and a small fox crawled onto her lap, her lips curved up into a small smile. This was her escape, this was her sanctuary.

Vei laid back, her legs still bent and in the water, her eye’s her closed. Her hand slowly reached up, her fingers slowly spread out as if she were trying to grab something, her lips pursed and then opened as she softly began to whisper.

When I smile, you see what you want to see, you’ll never see the real me

Lost in the bitterness afraid of my soul

Lost in this world wanting a meaning

Lost in my thoughts, where am I?”

The fox that lay on her lap, crawled unto her stomach, it whimpered and nipped at her chin, she stopped to tilt her head in question, opening her eye’s, her clear blue eye’s meeting the foxes brown ones

I see, I must take my leave, thank you little one”

Vei pushed herself up, she picked the fox up and brushed her lips against it’s head, putting it down on the floor, she pulled her legs out of the lake, shaking the water off and sliding her sneakers back on, putting her socks into her backpack, with a wave she left the animals. Looking at her watch, a curse slipped passed her lips, it was 5:50, she only had ten minutes to make it home, and thank goodness she was a fast runner.

When she got out of the area, she looked around before for a few second, then standing straight, she turned and ran home, got there just in time to see her parents go into there rooms. That’s how middle school was for her, nothing seemed to change for her. ---

Vei stood with her portfolio, tilting her head when her teacher spoke to the other students, a hand landed on her shoulder, and before she knew it, she turned and jumped back, almost ready to strike, she stopped only when her eye’s locked with familiar hazel ones, her eyes filled with confusion, then slowly with annoyance, then from their usual clear blue, they dulled grey.

Why are you here? And what is it you want?”

The same boy from her first class stood staring at her, His hair was a very dark brown, to the point where it looked black, while the front was straight; the back was much shorter, and it reached a little to his neck. His eye’s seemed hazel but when looked at directly, specks of green littered around his pupils, his skin was almost as pale as Vei’s. He appeared younger then he really was.

He smiled, teeth so white she want to poke at them to see if they were fake, even though they were so clean they were slightly uneven.

I’m here because this is one of my classes, and all I want is to get to know you, you seemed rather lonely, plus you seem like a rather interesting person” He stated with ease, no hint of flirtation what so ever.

Vei blinked she really didn’t know how to respond, she turned and sighed

Trust me; I’m not that interesting at all”

Vei mumbled, her head was slightly bent, but her eye’s stayed opened, they were slowly dulling, but specks of blue lingered in them, Vei felt rather then see him move, she turned before he could touch her.

You know, your eye’s seem to change a lot, usually that’s normal, but yours changes so much it’s hard to believe they really are your eyes, it seems almost feline. Don’t worry Vei, let me be the judge of whether you’re an interesting person or not. And trust me.” He smiled and laid his rather large hand on her head, she blinked up at him “I’m a good person when it comes to judging people, you should meet my buds, Greg and Sierce, oh and by the way, I’m Yoru, nice to meet ya”

That’s how it started, after that, she met Sierce the next day, and met Gregory the following, they were all handsome men. She often got glares from all the girls, and at times, murmurs were heard, and of course rumors would start, but Vei was prepared, and already knew that was going to happen, she waited for Yoru and the others to disappoint her, to do something, to slip in some way, but it never happened.

Vei jumped when a hand landed on her, she smiled without turning

“Sheesh Yoru, you and the others took forever what took you?”

She said, tilting her head, her ice blue eye’s meeting amused hazel ones, and then they slid over the forms of Greg and Siece.

“You two need to hurry up, I mean I know your school Celebes and need your dose of half the percent of females from this school to fond all over you, but I have a life to”

-Fin, for chapter 2 atleast-

A/N: Okay Chickadee’s this one was a bit longer, I hope you like it, it explained a bit more about Vei and how she met the others, the next chapter will move along, and don’t hold back on any Reviews, whether their bad or good I need it…hope you guys like it Bye bye!
