A long dusty road, surrounded by ashes

Of a burned out and crashing nation

Gunfire a midnight symphony, as our sons

Kill one another for synthesized euphoria

Broken windows match broken hearts

Broken spirits and broken homes, history’s

Ghosts doomed to haunt and repeat.

Anguished youth fall in the streets

Defending their fallacious underground

Laissez faire, no more to rise.

Energy that could be used to resurrect and

Rebuild, wasted on useless endeavors.

Death is no deterrent, nor the pain

Of their daughters and mothers and sisters

From their grotesque activities.
