Father (love plead)

My dreams they are about

My father’s hand reaching out

The strong arms offering his love

A longing I know everything of

My heart is heavy my soul cries

When the rage clouds his eyes

The fear that fills me

Buried so he won’t see

His words are a sword

The tone I abhor

Self-righteousness is his shield

Leaving wounds that do not heal

Why can’t I bear his damning tone?

A knife that cuts me to the bone

Anger for anger I can give

Still it’s a miserable way to live
