Hello! I hope you enjoy my story. It's a short chapter but the chapters will get longer. I'm just seeing if people would want me to continue the story. And please review if you are reading the story :) Thank you and enjoy.
People may say that I, Joyce Adams had it all. You know, the looks, the popular brothers, who are supposedly hot. Trust me, I really don't need people telling me how hot my brothers are.
I truly never thought I was that pretty, and I have a far from perfect life. I was always the sarcastic girl. The one who spent almost a year in grief because of my father who passed away when I was 9. The one who could have gotten the guy if it weren't for my two over protective brothers. Seriously, if someone asked me out, they would eventually chicken out and avoid me because of my brothers' threats.
I just don't care what people think about me, is all. If people think that standing up for yourself, and what you believe in and going through with life without a father is having a perfect life, then, I guess people need to look in the dictionary more often.
“Get the hell out of the bathroom!” I yelled to my second-oldest brother, Dylan, who was a junior in high school. What the hell did he even do in there? I’ve been waiting here for 20 minutes at the least. It wasn’t like he had to put make-up on or something. Unless, he was secretly bi-sexual or something, but I doubted that. He had a girlfriend, her name's Ashley.
I suddenly pictured him with a long blonde wig and make-up on, and I laughed hysterically, almost crying. Dylan opened the door of the bathroom during my 'laugh attack'.
He looked at me like I was crazy before raising an eyebrow saying, “What’s so funny?”
I looked at him again and pictured him with the wig before starting to laugh crazily again. He shook his head and picked me up and carried me from his shoulder. I HATED being lifted upside down. I felt like I would fall off. The picture was still in my head, “Put me down!” I said between muffled laughs, “I need to go p-p-pee!” I laughed.
He put me down and I ran to the bathroom. I know what you're thinking, I'm such a weirdo. But, trust me, my best friend Krystal, whom I sometimes called Kristy, Krissy, or Kris, was way more of a lunatic than me.
I tied my long dark hair up in a high ponytail, glaring at the bangs that threatened to fall. I finished using the bathroom and went to my room and applied a little black eyeliner to my ocean blue eyes. I loved my eyes, I had inherited them from my mom’s side of the family. Dylan who was in grade 11, had blue eyes too, but my oldest brother Jayden had gotten hazel eyes, from my dad’s side. He was a senior, in grade 12.
And I, Joyce Adams, was STILL a sophomore. Anyway, I got ready for school, putting on a red tank top, since it was warm outside, and some faded jeans. I ran downstairs, looking at my brothers eating some soggy cereal.
“Hey,” I said beamed at them, brushing my bangs out of my eyes.
“Sup, shortie!” Jayden grinned enthusiastically at me. Ugh! I was not that short! I was 5’1! It wasn’t my fault they were like giants or something. Jayden was 6’3 and Dylan, 6’1. Girls are usually shorter though, right?
I hardly poured myself a bowl of cereal before Dylan yelled, opening the door, “Come on, let’s go!”
“But I haven’t eaten breakfast yet!” I yelled, “I’m not going right now!”
“Yes, you are!” Dylan insisted, pulling me by the arm, “Now, let’s go!” I usually went with Krystal to school but other times, Dylan and Jayden took me.
“No!” I yelled, “Just because you want to get to school early to make out with your girlfriend, doesn’t mean I have to suffer!”
And for the second time that morning, I had been lifted off my feet and hung over Dylan’s shoulder.
“So, anyway,” Krystal ran a hand through her gorgeous blonde hair that I was so jealous of, “can you believe that Rachel and Thomas are going out?”
I sighed, another one of her gossip moments.
"Really?" I said with fake enthusiasm, "No way!"
“I know!” She giggled, obviously not catching my sarcasm,"I've been waiting for them to finally get together!"
Who was Thomas anyway? I knew who Rachel was, she was sort of my friend, but what in hell was Krystal talking about?
So, I was busy eating my lunch and listening to Krystal babble on and on, when I felt someone tap on my shoulder.
I turned around to see Dylan and my heart almost leaped out of my chest at the sight of Jerret beside him. Jerret gave me annoying butterflies in my stomach whenever I saw him.
“What’s up?” I asked them.
“I need to talk to you.” Said Dylan. I glanced at Kristal with a confused expression my face. She just shrugged and went back to eating her lunch.
“Okay...” I stood up and followed them outside.
“What's wrong?” I asked them, crossing my arms and raising an eyebrow. What? It was very unusual for them to look so serious.
“Well...” My brother started, “Have you noticed anything different about Ashley?”
Ashley was Dylan’s girlfriend, he was asking me because we were sort of close friends.
I haven’t talked to Ashley this morning, so I didn’t really know.
“I didn’t see her at all today...” I said, tapping my chin thoughtfully, “Why?”
Ashley was a really nice person, and a fun person to talk to. We started hanging out even before Dylan and her started dating. She was actually in my grade, and I had introduced her to my brother. She was Krystal's friend too.
“Joyce? JOYCE!” Dylan yelled.
I suddenly snapped out of my thoughts. I blinked and stared up at him with a confused expression. “Huh?” I looked at Jerret, as he laughed silently. I glared at him and he just raised an eyebrow.
“Did you hear anything I just said?” Dylan asked me, crossing his arms over his chest.
“Uh...no?” I suggested.
He shook his head and said, “Ashley’s been acting strange lately, did you talk to her in the past week?”
“Yeah.” I looked at him, “She seems...normal to me. Maybe she’s mad at you. Did you do something to her?”
He paused for a second, “No, not that I can think of...”
“Then I don’t know.” I answered truthfully.
“Okay.” He said, “Just tell me if you find anything out, okay?”
“Kay.” I said, “See ya later Dylan.”
I nodded to Jerret, “Bye.”
He smiled as he held up one hand and said “See ya.”
I turned around, but then a thought came to me. I turned around to face them again, and I said, “Uh, Jerret, why where you here in the first place?”
He just shrugged, “Wanted to spend some time with you.” He winked at me.
I knew he was only joking, but he made me blush. I smiled and turned around as I headed back inside the cafeteria.
I sat down again as Krystal asked me, “So, what’s up?”
I sighed, “Dylan wanted to know if there was anything up with Ashley.”
“Why?” She asked me looking curious.
“He seems to think something’s wrong with her,” I said, “says she’s been acting strangely.”
“Oh.” She said, just as the bell rung signaling lunch to be over. “Let’s go. I’m sure she’s fine.”
“Hey.” I said as I walked into the house, to find Dylan and Jerret watching a movie.
“Hey.” They said in unison.
I put away my bag as I headed upstairs. “Uh, Joyce I ordered pizza, so if you wanna eat some, it’s going to be here in a while.”
“Okay,” I said, tucking my bangs behind my ear, “Just call me when it’s here.”
He nodded as I continued upstairs. I lay on my bed, tiredly. My goodness, I hated school; it was like child labor or something. My math teacher, Mr. Keverson, hated me or something.
I got up from my bed and pulled off my clothes. I had gotten paint on it from art class. We were painting our sculptures that we made out of clay.
It was when I was in the bathroom and almost completely naked was when I figured out I didn’t get a pair of pants. I rushed out of the bathroom, into my room (yes, I had a bathroom inside my room!) to grab a pair of pants.
I froze as the doorknob opened and I saw Jerret’s shocked and I think slightly lustful face as he saw me in almost no clothes at all!
So, I hope you liked the chapter! Please tell me if I should continue. I won't know if you don't review. Thank you! ;)
