FictionPress’s Top Fiction Character
By Victoria Barlow
“Christina, are you ready yet?” The director shouted over the noise of the set. “We need you out here now!”
“I’m coming!” Shouted a woman as she came hurrying out on her three inch heels. Just like in practice, she seated herself on a stool directly in front of the camera while various members of the crew worked to get the lighting just right. Her personal hair dresser was quickly smoothing down any stray blonde hairs that had managed to separate themselves from the rest.
The director sighed in frustration and rolled his eyes. Christina smiled up at him apologetically.
“Are we ready now?” He asked just as the hair dresser scurried off set.
“I am, but I don’t know about everybody else,” Christina said jokingly, hoping to lighten the mood.
“Alright, quiet on the set!” The director hollered and everything went silent. Christina brushed a wrinkle out of the front of her shirt and looked directly into the camera. “And…action!”
“Hi, I’m Christina West,” she began, smiling brightly at the camera. “As some of you may know, I won last year’s addition of FictionPress’s Top Fiction Character. And now I’m here to offer the invitation to you. Everybody’s eligible and has an equal chance of making it onto the show and winning the title. All you have to do is fill out an application and send it in. That’s it!
“This year, the prizes are a little bit different. You’ll get the title of FictionPress’s Top Fiction Character, bragging rights, and a chance of a lifetime. Not everybody gets a chance like this, but if you want it badly enough that you can taste it, then hurry up and send in that application! There can only be twelve young men and women and once those positions are filled, then it’s too late to apply or try to get in.
“The voting is the same as it was last year: people vote for their favorite to stay on and the person with the lowest total votes gets sent home. But the rules will be explained in more detail once you get here. If you want another season of FictionPress’s Top Fiction Character so that it could possibly be you that wins, then you have to apply. The first twelve to apply are the ones who will be competing! So what are you waiting for? You’d better hurry if you want a spot!”

A/N: And that’s just how this works. You vote for your favorite character (not yours!!) to stay on. If you vote for your own character, that vote won’t count. Now for promises on my part:
I, Victoria Barlow, promise to never claim ownership in any way of your character. There will always be a disclaimer about that at the beginning of each chapter. I do not get to vote for which character I like best. If your character is sent home, I had nothing to do with it because I have no say-so with who stays and who goes. It is entirely up to you guys.
So if you’re interested in having your character possibly winning the title of FictionPress’s Top Fiction Character, then you have to send in the application (either by reviewing or PMing me) in the next chapter. Thanks!
