Peanuts

Not cashews, walnuts or sunflower seeds.

Just Peanuts.

Slightly salted

Just like the tips of your fingers

One at a time, I eat them.

The bowl slowly empties

Until there is only one nut left.

You’ve always been too far for me to reach.
