Call and Respond

I hear my name and I turn

And catch a glimpse

So fleeting it was as if

You were never there

How many months separate us?

How many memories do we share?

Call and reapeat

I hear you, you hear me, never meeting, never touching

I sink into the void

Trying to forgive myself

For trying to forget you

And not succeeding

To want to forget

Is to remember

And as hard as I try

I will never forget that night

Your lips brushed briefly over mine

And then it was all over

You vanished

And I moved on

But you’re always there

In the back of my mind

Haunting my thoughts

Lingering forever
