It fades there;
Engraved forever in cracked marble
A line or two:
Spelling out the syllables of your name
You lie beneath; unseen
But we feel your presence
In the broken threads
Of fettered fate:
Lost ideals in a wearied world
Wisps of silence spread
Throughout; Septic sobs
Hiccupping from numbed minds
Venting pain, anger, sorrow
Imagined chuckles rip seams
From the badly patched
Tapestry of re-woven life:
You, my child, are long gone.
A victim of a failed system,
Forever lost, forever remembered
And we falter, reminded of you
In every simplicity of daily life
