A/N: I’m incredibly sorry, everyone. I had major writers block, then I was lazy, and then I even didn’t want to work on this, but now we’ve finally finished this chapter. Vtgib and I will be graduating from high school this year and going to college, so the updates will be slow, if not slower. Plus, most of the problems with the slow updates will be my fault. Just so you know.

Okay, on with the show…or should I say story? Whatever, you get the point.

I followed James through the school. He mentioned that we were going to the school’s hospital or teachers’ dorm. It took only took a few minutes to get outside. We went to the right and followed a path. I saw the building in less than a minute, that’s how big it was. It had at least two stories, it could’ve been more, but I didn’t pay that much attention. James went up to the door and pressed the intercom button.

A woman answered right away and asked us who we wanted to speak with. James answered and said that he needed to speak to Mr. Matthews. She responded, saying that he would be heading out there in a second. He was there within one minute, but instead of speaking directly to James he turned towards me and Jason.

“Are you here with James?” he asked us.

“Yeah,” I answered, Jason just nodded.

“Okay, there is a waiting room right inside here. The principal wants to see James for a minute.”

I wanted to ask “what for,” but suspected that it would be a tad rude. Mr. Matthews turned around and lead us inside. They had a waiting room for the students and he gestured for us to sit down and wait. I took a seat, Jason waited until the other two were out of the room before he sat down beside me.

I started to drift off in the comfortable silence when Jason spoke up.

“Do you know why James chose you for that demonstration in the assembly?”

“Huh?” I said a tad groggily. “Oh, I don’t think he picked me for any particular reason. He probably just chose me randomly.”

“So you didn’t know each other from before?”

I wondered why he thought that. Maybe we acted like close friends or something. I smiled to myself, who would’ve thought that it would be so easy to make friends. “Nope, why’d you ask?”

“No reason, I guess he could’ve picked me then.” He sounded a tad upset, but I didn’t completely understand.

“I suppose, unless there was a reason for him to only pick girls.”

I tried to fall asleep again. I must’ve not gotten as good a rest in the vehicle as I’d thought. Unfortunately sleep evaded me. I started trying to think of questions to ask. Something normal friends would ask.

“Where are you from?” I asked him.

“I’m from Texas,” he answered.

“Really? So is Jessica.” That was cool, maybe they went to the same school.

“I don’t think I’ve seen her before coming here. Texas is a big state, after all.”

I laughed, “Whoops, I guess that’s right. I’m from Arizona.”

“Aren’t we in Arizona?”

“I don’t know. What city is this?”

“I’m not entirely sure, but I heard some of the older kids saying that this was Area 51 and stuff like that.”

“Huh? Isn’t Area 51 an alien research facility?”

“Don’t ask me. I’ve never been there.”

“Well, we’re either in Arizona or Nevada. I’m not entirely sure since I fell asleep on the way here.”

He stared at me, shocked. “How could you fall asleep?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know.”

“Well, it’s probably on the border of the states or something. Since the school is the National School for Special and Advanced Children, the national government probably owns the land we are on like Washington D.C. or something. That way the states can’t claim this school as their own.”

“Okay, and how do you know all of this?”

“I don’t, I’m just guessing. I didn’t really have a social life at my old school, so I had to find other things to do with my time.”

“Ah.”

Mr. Matthews came back in. “It might be a little while longer till James gets back. Do you guys have any questions?”

“Yeah, I do.” I said. “When do we get our schedules?”

“They should have them at the front office by now, though I can tell you that most of the kids won’t pick them up until the day that classes start.” Mr. Matthews answered.

“Alright, another question: When will they teach us how to use our powers and stuff, how does that work out?”

“We will get together and organize the students based on their powers; we’ll then take on students based on the similarity of their powers to our own. If it doesn’t work out, the student will switch teachers until they find one that can teach them.”

“What if there are no teachers with powers that are similar to a student’s?”

“We have some teachers here who train kids that nobody else can or will train. I’m actually one of them.”

“So what is your power?”

“I’d prefer to keep that a secret. I don’t want to use it unless there is an emergency, but if I went around telling people what it is, then they would be constantly asking me to use it. If there are ever any kids with a power similar to mine, then I will be the one to train them, though.”

“So the other teachers know your power?”

“No, only Mr. Talley knows what it is. He was actually the one to train me when I came here, but I don’t use my power much.”

“Are there different teachers for normal school and power training?”

“Yes, some are one or the other, a few are both. There are more trainers than teachers.”

Jason cut in. “When will we be assigned to a teacher?”

“They do that within the first two weeks of school. The power training usually takes place after normal classes have ended or during the student’s free time during the day.”

He asked another question. “When are the normal classes?”

“The classes will start on Monday. Classes can start at 7:30 and the latest classes end around 5:30. Classes mostly last either an hour or an hour and a half. Different classes start every half hour. Your schedule will have breaks, and most vary in length. Our secretary will take care of all this, though, and she makes sure you take the classes that you need.”

“So, how does the secretary do all that?” I asked.

“She has a lot of time because she doesn’t have any other jobs, except to notify the teachers about various things such as notices from the principal and announcing when they have visitors. She is also a telepath, so she can arrange the schedules so the most students get the classes they want and need. It actually works out really well since she arranges the classes based on what the kids need rather than trying to fit the kids into a fixed schedule of classes. It is a bit tough on the teachers, though, since they don’t know when they will be teaching until a bit before they actually start.”

James walked back in at that point. He looked over at us and sat down. “What are you talking about?” He asked.

“We were just asking Mr. Matthews about the school and stuff.” I said.

“What stuff?” He asked.

“Like, the class schedules, the power stuff, and the different types of teachers.”

“Oh.”

Jason spoke up. “Did you get in trouble for the fight?”

“What fight?” I asked. When did this happen? I didn’t remember any fighting.

“No,” James answered.

“Then why did the principal want to see you?” Jason asked.

“They are moving me to the regular dorms.” He said. “They have decided to give me a roommate.”

“I guess we’ll have to reschedule the tour if you’re moving.” I said.

“That’s not his biggest problem,” Jason pointed out. “If James gets a roommate, that person would be in danger because of Jimmy.”

“No, I don’t think the school would do something like that. Most likely, they put him in a room with somebody who would have some sort of protection from Jimmy, like someone who can become invincible. They might even put James with an upper classman.” I was sure that the school wouldn’t do something as stupid as putting one of their students in unnecessary danger.

“I’ve never heard of an invincible person,” James countered.

“That’s not the point,” I said. “I’m just saying that they would put you with a roommate who Jimmy would have a hard time hurting.”

“She’s probably right,” Jason said, thus ending the argument. He would be useful; I could already tell that James and I would probably argue quite often. He just seemed like that kind of person. If Jason could end all of our arguments like this one it’d make my life much easier.

There was silence for a few moments, so I decided to say something. “So, when will we take the tour then?”

“Let’s talk about that after James moves into his new room,” Jason said.

“Okay, how about we go pick up our schedules while he’s doing that, then?” I suggested.

Jason agreed and I asked James if we should pick his up as well. He said, “No thanks”.

We decided that we would meet him outside. With that, Mr. Matthews escorted us out of the teachers’ dorms.

A/N: The chapter is finally over. I still don’t have any chapter names for my story, so when I do decide on names I’ll put them up.
Someone pointed this out to us as we were working on the chapter:

A girl asked what NSSAC stood for and we told her. She said, “You mean it’s a school for retards (Special) and geniuses (Advanced)?”

Yes,” we answered.

Oh, so it’s just like normal schools.”

We didn’t try to explain to her that the kids who went there had special powers, but you get the point.

By the way, it’s supposed to be genii (at least in my opinion, dictionarydotcom seems think that both work). Plus the brackets didn't work on the Special and Advanced part like I'd wanted it too...
