Hi! My name is Lacey, and this is the story of how I met Kacey, my first love. Now I know that our names rhyme, and I know that it’s a little weird, but as Kacey likes to say, ‘It’s fate!’ I met Lacey at a volleyball game that my friend Guy had dragged me to. We were there to see his girlfriend when I saw her...
“I still don’t see why I have to go, Guy! Angelica’s you’re girlfriend, not mine!” I whined as Guy grabbed my arm and started pulling me towards the gym where the volleyball game was being held.
Well duh! Where else would they put a volleyball game, the library?
Shut up!
Now you meet my sarcastic inner voice. I named her Hayley, after the lead singer from the band “Paramore”. Say hi Hayley.
Bite me.
So, anyway...back to the story!
“You have to come with me because Angelica wants you to meet someone! Now hurry, we’re already late!” Guy informed me impatiently.
“Why do I care if we’re late?” I persisted.
“Trust me, you want to meet her,” Guy muttered to me.
“Her? Her who? Who are you talking about?” I cried, frustrated.
“The girl Angelica wants you to meet. Cassie or something,” he said.
“Kacey? Is her name Kacey?” I asked breathlessly, my heart in my throat. Kacey had been my secret love since 7th grade.
“Yeah, that sounds about right. Why, you already know her?” Guy winked at me.
“No! I don’t already know her like that you perv! I’ve seen her around school! Let’s just go already!”
“So eager! ‘Why do I care if we’re late?’ ‘Why do I have to go?’” Guy mimicked in a really high voice. I pushed him into a trashcan we were passing.
“Just come on, Guy! Don’t you want to see Angelica kick ass?” I asked sweetly. He sneered at me as I ran ahead so he couldn’t push me. We finally arrived at the gym and bought tickets to get in, sitting as high up in the bleachers as we could. I looked down at the girls warming up and my breath caught in my throat. Kacey was beautiful as ever. Long blonde hair, gorgeous tan, full pink lips always adorned with enough lip gloss to just make them shimmer. I met Kacey in seventh grade, during a lab in science. Before that, I didn’t know her as anything more than prep to the extreme. So I decided that that lab was going to be a living hell. That was, until I saw her. Shorter hair yes, but still gorgeous. Tall and fit, she was a volleyball player then too. I hoped she didn’t remember me, or that she wouldn’t pay any attention to my horrendous first impression. I shuddered at the memory.
“Hi, my name is Lacey,” I introduced myself shyly.
“Great! You’re one of those really smart people, right? Oh, thank God, ‘cause I really don’t understand this at all!” she said in a rush. I felt a little hurt, I mean, she just called me a nerd! I wasn’t a nerd
“Yeah, I’m ‘one of those smart people’. Are you ‘one of those idiot people’?” I quipped acidly. She looked hurt.
“You know, not all of us are dumb. I’m just unfortunate enough to not be able to make any new friends. That and Mr. B is an ass who doesn’t explain anything.” Wow I’m dumb. I bought her sob story. That lab taught me a lot about her. Most importantly that was the first time I began to realize that she was a lesbian. Her idiot friends wouldn’t be able to tell, but she looked at me just too much to be just sizing me up. And I’ll admit, I looked at her a lot too, she was hot then as too!
“So, see you later?” she said a little uncertainly as the bell rang to go to seventh period.
“Yeah, maybe.” She frowned a bit, her forehead creasing at her perfectly shaped eyebrows.
“Hell-o! Earth to Lacey! Houston, we have a problem!” Guy waved his hand in front of my face.
“You are such a nerd, Guy!”
“Well, at least I’m not an obsessed lesbo! You’ve been staring at her for five minutes now! The game is about to start!” he teased me. Their game went well. Kacey was the best at everything, digging, setting, hitting, serving. Even cheering. Damn she was hot! By the end of the game I was on the edge of my seat, white knuckled as she served the winning point.
I have to face her.
No, you don’t have to do that. You just love her and this is the opportunity of a life time. But, sure, walk away!
I’ll do it. I’m going to go talk to her! I tried to concentrate on standing up and not falling over in the jumping crowds as I tried to descend the bleachers to meet Guy and Angelica and maybe even, Kacey. When I finally un-gracefully had come down from the bleachers, Guy had his arm around Angelica and Kacey was looking like a very uncomfortable third wheel. She smiled a little as she saw me.
That’s a good sign, right? That she smiled?
No. It’s horrible. Don’t go anywhere near her, your heart will just get broken.
Angelica smiled when she saw me too. “Lacey! Come here! I want you to meet someone!” she called. I took a deep breath. This was it. I could walk away now, save myself the heartache. No. I could do this. I walked over bravely, managing to not fall.
“Hi,” Kacey said quietly.
“Kacey! Say something more than hi! You were so excited to meet her earlier!” Angelica scolded as Kacey blushed bright red.
“Hi Kacey,” I smiled shyly. “Great game.”
“Thanks! Did you really think so?” she smiled as her blush that had been fading bloomed back again.
“Yeah. You know, you look really cute when you blush,” I said, smiling and laughing internally. She blushed harder at hearing that. Around that time I realized that Guy and Angelica had left, leaving us alone.
“Well, I, uh, I gotta go now. So, see you later?” she asked uncertainly. The words struck a chord deep down inside my chest. I could only nod in response. I ran outside and immediately punched a the first wall I saw as hard as I could. PAIN! Pain is good. Pain means that I could no longer concentrate on the pain of letting her go again.
“Lacey!” I heard an alarmed voice. I spun and saw Kacey looking frightened. “Lacey! What’s wrong?” she asked.
“It’s nothing,” I said as I picked up my backpack and turned away from her, try to not let her see the tears starting to spill from my eyes. I felt something pull on my backpack almost immediately. I turned to see her looking into my eyes, her brown ones with my black. Before I could register anything, her lips pressed softly, then harder against mine. I pressed back just as hard, then demanding more. Our tongues both asked permission to enter at the same time, each one granting that request. She slid my backpack off the one shoulder it was on, then her hands made their way down my back. I caressed he long blonde hair gently, as if it would break if I pressed to hard. Finally we broke apart, both breathing a little harder than normal, both smiling.
“Wow,” I said after a few awkward seconds.
“I was thinking the same thing,” she responded.
“Great minds think alike.” I said.
“So what are you doing tomorrow night?” she asked, a little too innocently as we walked back to the gym so she could get her bag.
“Oh, I don’t know. Probably nothing. Why?” I asked, just as innocently.
“Well, there’s this new movie showing, and I was thinking that maybe you...” I silenced her with a quick kiss.
“Sure I’ll go see a movie,” I responded. “If I get to see your house too.” She smiled at me.
“Oh, I don’t think that will be a problem. My parents are out of town for the weekend, so...”
AN: Ya, so this is my first femslash. Got the idea when I saw two girls at a volleyball game. I have another story going with a MMslash, but that’s another story. Which you could read! How amazing!
