A/N: Okay, this is chapter 3. Sorry it took so long. This actually wasn’t my fault. I had my part done a couple of months ago and just made some minor changes when Blazinfox actually did her part. I had to bug her for so long. I am kinda annoyed now. At least we got it done eventually. I will stop talking and let you read the chapter now.

Chapter 3: A New Room

We went to the teachers’ dorms. The whole building actually served a double purpose. It was the teachers’ dorms and the school’s ‘hospital.’ I had only been inside the building twice: I'd gone to the principal’s office on the first day of school, and I had been to the hospital once when I had been badly injured. I suppose those are stories for another day. Anyways, we went up to the door and I pressed the button for the intercom.

A woman answered and asked us who we wanted to talk to. She was sort of the secretary. She’s a telepath, so she can communicate with anyone inside the building. She uses the intercom to talk to the students that stand outside because some of them would freak out a bit if they just started hearing voices in their heads.

I told her that we wanted to talk to Mr. Matthews and she said that he would come out to meet us. Mr. Matthews always came outside to talk to me, so I didn’t suspect anything was wrong until he actually came through the door.

When he came through the door, he spoke to Sarah and Jason first.

“Are you here with James?” he asked them.

“Yeah,” Sarah said. Jason just nodded.

“Okay, there is a waiting room right inside here. The principal wants to see James for a minute.”

Just inside the door, there was a waiting room. I had never been inside this entrance, so I didn’t know that the room was there. Mr. Matthews always came out quickly whenever I was there, so I suppose the secretary never thought it necessary to tell me that it was there. Of course, that wasn’t what I was thinking at that moment. What I was thinking right then was, ‘Why does the principal want to see me?’

Then I remembered the ‘fight’ with Aaron. I didn’t actually cause any damage or harm anyone, but that was the only thing that I could think that the principal would want to talk to me about. It wasn’t too long of a walk to Mr. Talley’s office, so I didn’t have too much time to think about other possible reasons why he would want to see me.

When we entered the room, Mr. Matthews told me to go inside. He said that he would be going back to talk to Jason and Sarah. I walked into the office and Mr. Talley was sitting down behind a desk. He looked exactly the way I remembered him from the last time I had been here, except he was a bit older now.

“Hello, James. Please sit down,” Mr. Talley said. He sounded calm. Not extremely calm like he was trying to suppress anger, but genuinely calm. Three options jumped into my head. Either he was really good at hiding his emotions, he was actually not angry at me for the fight, or the fight wasn’t the reason I was here. I suspected the second or third choice since he would have no reason to hide his emotions.

He must have seen how nervous I was because he said, “I’m not going to be punishing you for anything.”

I was relieved. I didn’t originally think that I would be punished for the incident (I decided to refer to it as an ‘incident’ instead of a fight from this point on, since we didn’t do any actual fighting), but I couldn’t think of any other reason that Mr. Talley would want to see me.

“I just wanted to tell you that we are going to put you in a room with another student this year,” he continued. I almost fell out of my chair because I was so surprised. I’d always had a room to myself since I was considered ‘dangerous’ because of Jimmy.

I was very confused. It just didn’t make sense that they would put me into a room with another student. I was speechless for a bit.

“You can move your things to your new room now,” Mr. Talley said. “Mr. Matthews will help you. Your roommate should already be in the room.” I went back to the waiting room where Sarah, Jason, and Mr. Matthews were. They were talking about something.

“What are you talking about?” I asked.

Sarah answered me. “We were just asking Mr. Matthews about the school and stuff.”

“What stuff?” I asked her.

“Like, the class schedules, the power stuff, and the different types of teachers.”

“Oh,” I said. I guess they would want to know about that stuff.

“Did you get in trouble for the fight?” Jason asked me.

“What fight?” Sarah asked. Jason apparently hadn’t informed her of the incident with Aaron.

“No,” I told him, ignoring Sarah.

“Then why did the principal want to see you?” Jason asked.

“They are moving me to the regular dorms,” I told them. “They have decided to give me a roommate.”

“I guess we will have to reschedule the tour if you’re moving,” Sarah said.

Then Jason spoke up again. “That’s not his biggest problem. If James gets a roommate, that person would be in danger because of Jimmy.”

“No, I don’t think the school would do something like that,” Sarah said. “Most likely, they put him in a room with somebody who would have some sort of protection from Jimmy, like someone who can become invincible. They might even put James with an upper classman.”

“I’ve never heard of an invincible person,” I told her.

“That’s not the point,” she said. “I’m just saying that they would put you with a roommate who Jimmy would have a hard time hurting.”

“She’s probably right,” Jason said, ending the argument. I stared at him and he just looked back at me. He seemed smart and he had seen a bit of what Jimmy could do, so he would know that they wouldn’t put me with even an upper classman. He didn’t seem to completely believe her, though, and that made me feel a little better. He probably just didn’t want us to argue so much.

We were silent for a few seconds before Sarah spoke up again. “So, when will we take the tour?”

“Let’s talk about that after James moves into his new room,” Jason said. Okay, I was definitely right. He looked a little nervous about me going to my new room. We were both wondering what my roommate would be like and how safe he would actually be from James.

“Okay,” Sarah said, “how about we go pick up our schedules while he’s doing that, then?”

I went to my room with Mr. Matthews to pack up everything I wanted to take to my new room while Sarah and Jason went to get their schedules. Sarah offered to get my schedule for me, but I told her that I would get it myself. We would meet outside

There wasn’t much that I wanted to move to my new room. My old room would be out of use until they found another person that needed it, so I could come back and get anything I left behind before then. I started to wonder what kind of power my new roommate would have. Maybe Sarah was right. I would find out soon.

A/N: I guess I sort of ended that on a cliffhanger. Sorry about that. The good news is that I got so fed up with waiting for Blazinfox to finish her chapter that I already have about half of my next chapter typed up. I also planned out pretty much what happens to James for the rest of the chapter. I don’t know what Sarah will be doing, though, since she is not with him for most of the time. The bad news is that she might take a long time to type her part again. At least this time I made sure we got it done. I might not get to talk to Blazinfox in person much after this, so the next update is probably going to be slow. I hope I will be able to bug her enough to convince her to get it done quickly.

On a lighter note, I was talking to Blazinfox about the story and one of my classmates came up to us and asked us what NSSAC stood for. We both told her it stood for the National School for Special and Advanced Children. Then she said, “So it’s a school for geniuses and retards?” I guess advanced and special could be translated into geniuses and retards, but I never thought of it that way. I told her “yes” (probably too quickly) and she said, “Oh, so it’s just a normal school.” I’m not going to explain that joke to any of you who didn’t get it. Also, Blazinfox says genii and I say geniuses, but they are both technically correct. She didn’t believe me when I told her, so we had to go to dictionary(dot)reference(dot)com to check.

I suggest to you if you like this story, to read both my part and Blazinfox555's part. This is because James and Sarah notice different details and from now on they will be separated in nearly every chapter at some point. You should be able to get through the story only reading one side, though, if you really don't want to read the other one.

Also, if any of you are wondering why all my chapter titles are ‘a new…’ whatever, it started as a coincidence, but now I’m gonna see how long I can keep it going. If it ever gets to the point where I have to say something really stupid to keep the theme, I think I’ll just come up with a different title for that chapter. See ya next time.
