jaguar eyes and tiger
lies
we let down the line
hand over hand
I string the trees
with time
clock the humidity with the tick
tock of a thousand
drops
we thought
a rotund dream left me
in a
rainforest
and the birds were hiding
feather from leaf
seconds slip past your temples
they bead your lip
curve
into your throat like a swallow
it's the same when you dive
down
my spine
the flight of clocks strung
to light the trees and
they twist
in the no breeze wheeze of canopy
bowered branches
like limbs
we wring ourselves out and wait
the cats are
sleeping but they know
we are here
