BABYSITTING: TESTS AND TRIALS – Chapter #1 The Babysitter

Why is it when ever you read a story, the high school is so clique? I mean is there any school out there that’s actually like that? Because if there is please tell me.

At my school practically everyone gets along. We do have the occasional bitchy girl but that’s just teenagers for you. We also have a few good looking guys but only one that stands out. His name is Christian Hemingway. Yep, me the practically unknown invisible girl is the girlfriend of the hottest guy in school. Okay so maybe my life a bit clique. Though there is one difference between my life. How many of those girls can say they met there current boyfriend babysitting for his younger sister? Yeah that’s right, only me.

Now getting back to the story. Today was the first day back at school since I had started dating Christian. I’ve only been here for five minutes and already I’ve had just about everybody come up to me and ask if it was true. I don’t know how they found out I didn’t tell anybody. Wait I did…Nicole. I stormed over to where my supposed best friend was standing. “Hey Lacy babe, how are you?” she asked innocently.

“Don’t ‘hey Lacy babe’ me. You told everybody,” I cried hysterically.

“Oh hush, you never said I couldn’t and besides who cares? Everyone knows you two belong together.” She smiled cheekily at me and flung an arm around my shoulders. “Now come on or we’ll e late for class.” I just shook my head as we walked together into the classroom just after our teacher, Ms Bryant. Let me explain Mr Bryant to you. She is older then time itself and is the bitchiest person I have ever met. She hates everyone under the age of 50; why she became a teacher I’ll never know. She has a very monotonous voice that could send even Emily into a boredom reduced coma. So when she started drone on, my thoughts drifted to my absent boyfriend. He is supposed to be in this class but he believes he is like a god so he doesn’t have to attend classes he doesn’t want to go to. Told you he has an enormous ego.

Just as I was about to fall asleep, Christian sauntered into the classroom. Confidence seeped from his being. “Mr Hemingway, class started twenty minutes ago. Why do you believe that it is acceptable for you to arrive late?” the old hag sneered.

“Ahh Beatrice, I came so we can have moments like these. Shall I dim the lights?” Christian asked leaning over her desk trying to be suave by lifting his sun glasses of his face and resting them on the top of his head.

“Mr Hemingway, just for that snide comment you can have detention with me this after noon,” her face was turning bright red, out of anger or embarrassment I’m not sure.

“More time to spend with you my dear Beatrice,” said bending down and kissing her on the hand. He walked down the aisle towards the vacant seat next to me. Before he sat down he lent down and kissed my temple. “Hey Princess, miss me?” I rubbed frantically where he had kissed me. Christian sent me a confused look until I lent over and whispered “You just kissed Ms Bryant and then with the same lips you kissed me. Yuk!” he started laughing at me causing Ms Bryant to yell at him again. Christian turned to me and gave me a cute innocent smile which I returned.

After class Christian, Nicole and I walked together to our next class. Every class until lunchtime the three of us sat together. I’m so glad that Nicole and Christian are getting along, they haven’t really every known each other and I was afraid that they would be horrible to each other.

It was finally lunch and Nicole and I went to sit in our usual place with our other friends. I was surprised to see Christian and his friends following your to where we were going to sit. I had just assumed that we wouldn’t be sitting together at lunch since we didn’t have any mutual friends. I sat down at he table and as everybody else sat around me I held my breath and preyed that everyone would get along.

Christian sat closely next to me and wrapped his arm around my waist. “Hey Princess, I bought your favourite today,” he said as he placed a container full of creamy pasta salad and two forks on the table in front of me. I squealed and launched myself at him wrapping my arms tightly around his broad shoulders.

“Aww that’s so cute!” all the girls sitting at the table shrieked.

“Man you are so whipped,” said one of the guys, which I didn’t know his name said.

“Dude. Your just jealous coz you know you have no chance in hell with me girl!” Christian replied puffing up his chest.

“Good god he’s gloating way too much. Somebody needs to deflate that head of yours.” Nicole said sarcastically. Everyone laughed while Christian pouted. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek and continued to shovel the pasta into my mouth.

One of the other guys suggested that all guys go play soccer. A chorus of “Yes, Yeah Dude and Whoop Whoops followed the suggestion.

As the guys walked away, we girls started to gossip and catch up with what had happened on the weekend. I had loads to share. One of the only bitches in the school walked over to our table. I eyed her wearily as she took a seat next to me.

“Babysitter, is it true that you are going out with THE Christian Hemingway?” I hate it wen she calls the babysitter. It is only because she thinks it’s funny to actually work.

“Yes Ashlin it’s true. Why?” I asked curiously.

“Well I didn’t want to be the one to tell you this but I thought somebody should,” she said as she rested her hand on my arm. I raised an eyebrow as I looked down at her perfectly manicured fingernails.

“I have it on good authority that the only reason that Christian is going out with you is because he bet his friends that he could, for lack of better words, bang you by the end of the month.” As she finished her little speech, she stood up and walked away.

I sat there hoping she wasn’t right. Christians not like that, Ashlin is just trying to cause trouble. I hope. Nicole shouted whore to Ashlin and attempted to go after her but I pulled her arm causing her to crash back down to the seat.

“Ignore that cow. She lying, she can’t hack that you got Christian and she didn’t. Everyone knows she’s been trying to get Christian to give her a second look since the beginning of the year!”

“Yeah maybe your right, but I’m still going to go have a talk with Christian.” I got up and waked over tho the makeshift soccer field. Christian noticed me there in a matter of seconds and jogged over to me. His dark hair was damp with sweat and his chest heaved after the exhausting match. A shiver went up my spine and my whole body exploded with goose bumps.

“Hey Princess, what’s you doing?” he asked standing so close to me that I could feel his body heat radiating of him. I launched into the story that Ashlin had fed to me but quickly ending it with; “but I don’t believe her. I just have to make sure. Please don’t be angry at me.” I pleaded. Christian took hold of my shoulders and his green eyes stared seriously into my own blue eyes.

“Lacy, I would never ruin my chance with you by making a stupid bet. If you don’t believe me, tonight when you come over for dinner you can ask mum and Emily just how long I have liked you for.” He brought me into a tight hug and I got a warm feeling in the depths of my stomach.

“I trust you Christian. I’m sorry I let her get to me.” I mumbled into his chest.

“It’s okay Princess, I’ve gotta go now but I’ll meet you by my car this afternoon after school.”

“Okay bye baby.” He gave me a quick kiss and went back to join the soccer match while I went back to my friends.
