When you pressed your smile against mine
it felt like vertigo
and I was always falling upwards

but slowly we lost direction
the candles were replaced with fluorescent lights
and the music echoed coldly through my veins
as the possibilities and the promises crumbled through the cracks

now I’m staring at the sun,
catching fire and praying for rain
I’d wait for forever to taste your smile one more time
but nothing ever changes
