A/N: This poem was written by my creative writing class using a “poetry machine.” This is a folder with a slot cut in it so that each student can only see the line of poetry before theirs. Each student contributes one line. Thus, it is not connected, but more like a rambling thought pattern. Please r&r—many of my classmates have never posted writing online before, so they would appreciate each and every review. Bonus points if you can guess which line is mine! ; )

Creative Writing Class Poem #1
November 13, 2007

---

A soft and succulent piece of cake

Sweet cake-flesh, with a skin of sugar

Chocolate icing on the skin of sugar

Rotting my teeth with its sweetness

Makes me wonder what I’m doing.

And wonder what I’m here for

All I do is suffer and decay at the end

I don’t know which path to take

My life’s course is going in circles

I wish there was more to say

About that time in Frisco Bay

The smiling child played so gay

The child laughed and laughed while he played all day

Now it’s time to go home from daycare
