A/N: This poem was written by my creative writing class using a “poetry machine.” This is a folder with a slot cut in it so that each student can only see the line of poetry before theirs. Each student contributes one line. Thus, it is not connected, but more like a rambling thought pattern. Please r&r—many of my classmates have never posted writing online before, so they would appreciate each and every review. Bonus points if you can guess which line is mine! ; )

Writing Class Poem #3

---
Standing on the edge, ready to fall
There isn’t anything holding me back now
So sing it out and say it proud
Even if you think your voice may crack and strain
The feeling of the song is good anyway
And I let it flow through me, roll me like a wave
Comforting me like potatoes with butter
So much I feel smothered
I need to be able to breathe
I need to have my space
I need some time away from you
The fights won’t go, you know it’s true
I think I want to leave you
For good this time
