A/N: This poem was written by my creative writing class using a “poetry machine.” This is a folder with a slot cut in it so that each student can only see the line of poetry before theirs. Each student contributes one line. Thus, it is not connected, but more like a rambling thought pattern. Please r&r—many of my classmates have never posted writing online before, so they would appreciate each and every review. Bonus points if you can guess which line is mine! ; )

Writing Class Poem #4

The rainbow spots on the brand new puppy
“I think this dog is kind of odd,” she says
And yes, the dog is odd
So I kicked it in the head
It lay there as if it were dead
I felt for its heartbeat and it was very weak
The beat kept slowing down.
Slowing to almost a stop
Reaching to an end
Wishing I could make amends
Hoping this would all just end
I would if I knew it would not hurt
I wanna be bad!
Make me feel good
