Your Mistake Equals My Heartache

I wrote this after I watched a true story that was so sad and really hit home for me. This wasn't easy for me to write, but I hope you like it. Same poem as before. I just edited it. Please review though!

"I love you"

Was the last words you said to me

I wish you didn't say that

It's not like you meant it

Nothing has been the same

No memory of you and I remains

I'm trying to keep hold of you

But that just makes you leave faster

Night after night

I waited by those stairs

I sat there staring

Waiting for you to be there

Yet you never came

Instead I recieved a call

The call that would never be erased from my mind

For the rest of my life

It kills me to think

How you could do it

Not thinking of the pain

The hurt that would cause me

That fact that you felt that was the only way

How could you

Why would you?

Love is such a word

I've taught myself never to use again

Because what else could love possibly be

But a promise...is it not true?

To care and cherish- to be there for someone always.

I pain that will never be erased

A memory always painful to remember

A time never forgotten

And a feeling lost

I miss you

You hurt me

You left everything behind

Your mistake

Has left me with heartache
