Chapter 1
Ian was summoned to the ancient one, Patrick’s home. As he quickly rushed over to him using his vampire speed, he tried to figure out what Patrick may have foreseen. Ian slowed down as he got close and then Patrick’s home came into view. Patrick lived in an old Victorian house and there were miles of land all around him. Being a vampire meant that he had to have his privacy. The old home had been his home for centuries and he seemed content to stay exactly where he was. As he approached the doors he gave a nod to the security guards, Blake and Callum.
“Ian.” Blake said as a greeting.
Ian walked inside and walked directly to the study. He knocked on the doors was greeted with an order to come in. He walked over to the desk where Patrick was sitting. Patrick was a little shorter than Ian’s six foot. He had short black hair and dark brown eyes that looked almost black. He looked like he was in his late twenties but Ian knew that he had to be at least a millennium old.
“Ian. Thank ye for coming.” Patrick said and nodded toward the chair in front of him. Ian nodded but said nothing. “I’ve had a premonition, of a girl. She is in a heap of trouble.” Patrick explained.
“But what does this lass have to do with me?” Ian asked.
“She is a critical key to helping in a battle soon to come.” Patrick replied.
“A battle? With the evil ones?” he asked. “Aye. Ye must go and protect her. Take some men with ye and watch over her.” Patrick said.
“Where do we find this lass?” Ian asked.
“She is going to college in the city. You’ll find her at a green grocery store near the college. Ye will be the one to point her out. She has long wavy hair the colors of brown, red and caramel. Her skin is light and her eyes a grey blue.” Patrick explained.
“What do ye mean I’ll be the one to point her out?” Ian asked.
“I’m no’ quite sure, it’s a bit murky, all I know is that ye will be the one to find her.” Patrick replied.
Ian nodded and stood. “We’ll leave as soon as possible. I’ll have my mobile so if ye see anythin’ else let me know.” Ian said.
Patrick nodded and then Ian turned and left the room determined.
He sped home to find Duncan, Reese, Tristan, and Brodie standing outside his loft, in the hallway.
“What did Patrick have to say?” Reese asked.
Reese was six foot two with black hair done in a buzz cut. He had pale skin and he was the tough one of the group. He got a thrill in fighting but would never get into one just for the fun of it. He also had a quick temper.
“He foresaw something. But let’s talk about it inside. Safer to know we won’t be overheard.” Ian said.
They all nodded and followed him inside and then into his living room.
Ian lived in an old factory building in the middle of the city. The five of them all lived in the building; each got their own floor as a living space. Ian’s loft was on the top floor and in his opinion, had the best view.
Once they were all sitting down, Ian stood at the window and looked out for a moment. “Well get on with it man, ye be drivin’ me mad.” Reese said frustrated.
Ian hid a smile before he turned to face his friends. “He saw a lass. She needs our protection. Patrick said that she could be a key to a soon to come battle.” Ian explained.
“A lass ye say. Well that is somethin’.” Tristan said with a smile.
Tristan was six foot with short blonde hair and blue eyes. His skin was pale and the hugest flirt. He always used his charms on any woman that got near and loved woman of all kinds.
Ian rolled his eyes and continued.
“She goes to college in the city and we are to find her at a green grocery store nearby her school. He also said that I would be the one to spot her out.” Ian explained.
He went on to repeat her physical characteristics. “Sounds fun.” Tristan said.
“Don’t get any ideas you.” Duncan said.
Duncan was six foot one with short red hair, hazel eyes and pale skin. He was the smartest man that Ian had ever come into contact with. He had a huge library and had read every single book in it at least three times.
“Who me? I don’t know what ye talkin’ about.” Tristan said still smiling.
“Yeah, sure.” Duncan said and rolled his eyes.
“When do we leave?” Reese asked.
“As soon as possible, we don’t know who’s after her and we don’t want to take any chances.” Ian said looking at Brodie.
Brodie gave a nod but said nothing.
Brodie was six foot six with dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and pale skin. He rarely ever said a word and most people were intimidated by him because of it and his size. He is kind and generous but not many people try to find that part about him out.
“Right, we’ll leave tomorrow mornin’ then.” Reese said and Ian could almost see him rubbing his hands together with glee.
