To sing so close to my skin
That my fingernails crawled
Shivering in merciless ecstasy

I wanted you to tattoo me into your world
Tracing my bones into your mother’s photographs
Whispering to me all the whys
Reconfiguring my breath with yours
As if I were somehow permanent
