Distrust, Doubt, Deceit

People say people only cheat

Selfish gain is the reason to compete

It doesn’t matter who ends up in defeat

-

Honesty, Truth, Trust

She wants to believe in the just

She sees people without mistrust, disgust

And with faith she entrusts

-

Lies, trickery, reality

Despite her naiveté, she’s treated with brutality

Still, she responds with geniality

No matter what, she retains her mentality

-

She believes if people work with one another

People will be happy and not suffer

An elementary concept without much depth

But why is it so difficult to percept?
