Free

It’s amazing what you feel,

Whenever you have nothing.

I had hoped that it all just tied me down,

That, maybe if I let it go,

I could somehow be free.

I know now that most of what I had,

Allowed me to have some of my freedom.

Now I’m afraid it’s too late.

I think I’ve already gotten myself.

I’m stuck in this cage,

And there’s no way out of it.

I can’t go back to the way it was,

Not with all I’ve said,

Not with all I’ve done.

I’ll just sit and wait in my corner.

Wait for the day

When I can truly have,

The day when I can really be free of it all!
