Forbidden Fairy Tale

One

Hannah Turner walked grudgingly down the hallways of Mercy Grace Hospital, where she just recently started working as a candy striper but also where both of her parents were doctors in the teen oncology wing of the hospital. She sighed as she looked out the window to see a fresh blanket of snow covering the ground.

I should be out there instead of in here. Hannah thought to herself as she remembered how she got stuck with the volunteer job…

We think you should volunteer at the hospital over Christmas break,”

Hannah let her eyes dance between her mom and her dad trying to decide how she should react.

“But why?”

“We know you usually get bored over your vacations so we thought you should do this to keep yourself busy,” Her dad said.

“But I was going to hang out with Bella and Lily and then try to work on some of my writing. Shouldn’t that keep me busy enough over break?”

“You’ll still have time to see Bella and Lily and do your writing,” Her mom said in an attempt to break the tension that was obvious between father and daughter.

Hannah sighed knowing that it was useless to try and change her parents’ minds.

“Fine, when do I start?”

“The first day of your Christmas vacation, you have to be there by ten o’clock,”Hannah was brought out of her thoughts by one of the orderlies coming up to her and she quickly turned to face him.

“What do you need me to do?”

“I need you to go to room 215 and clean it up”

Hannah’s first thought was why can’t you do it?

But she didn’t say anything she just nodded and headed down the hall towards the room she was told to go to.

Hannah slowly opened the door and walked in the room to see that it was occupied by a guy that looked to be about her age or maybe a year older, she wasn’t sure. She had never been a good judge of how old someone was. She tried to be as quiet as possible while cleaning up the room but was obviously unsuccessful in doing so, seeing as he instantly woke up.
