These words are written
For one single purpose
That by giving them life
They can continue to hide

Because if they aren’t recorded here
They’ll find their way to somewhere you can hear
And I’ve got these empty bottles and paper boats
To do away with every note I wrote

I’ve got a lesson in romantics
If you’re willing to hear
I’m scared to speak, scared to breathe
And no one has a clue

That I’m drowning over here
If you’re listening dear
This is my final call for something more
That I’m horrible at putting in to words

I hear friendship is forever
And maybe this will just end up a nightmare
But watch as the scene fades to black
And what will we say if we can’t get that back

I want for something to come out of this
Beside that same old worn out movie script
I’ve read and written a hundred times
So let’s burn a hole out of these pages tonight

Write a movie where the sunset never ends
Where we both would learn to live
And the ransom notes and love letters
Would actually mean something better

But I’ve got these empty bottles and paper boats
To do away with every note I wrote
